Postnatal Recovery Workshop | Sunday 10th April 2pm - 4pm | Bridget Pickerill
This workshop is designed to reconnect you with your core and pelvic floor function, to enable a deep understanding and conscious control of all the muscles involved. We will look at this from all angles including breathing patterns, movement, posture, alignment and neurological muscle facilitation.
It is suitable for anyone who is past their 6 week doctors check (12 weeks for c-section) and everything can be adapted for any level. The aim is for everyone to leave understanding their core and how it works, regardless of their starting point, and feeling confident that they can go about their lives knowing how to move safely and in a way that encourages healing and recovery from any changes experienced during or after pregnancy and birth…..whether it’s avoiding day to day aches and pains from the physical side of parenting or feeling confident to participate in other exercise knowing that you are aware of how to move safely and get the most out of anything you decide to do.
What you’ll learn…
-How to use your pelvic floor during diaphragmatic/360 degree breathing to manage intra-abdominal pressure
-Locate and activate the different layers of abdominal muscle
-Balancing muscles around the pelvis for pelvic stability
-How to incorporate this knowledge into exercise
-Posture analysis
-Activating the vestibular system to improve muscle facilitation
-Guided visualisation to assist connecting to pelvic floor
We hope you complete this course feeling empowered and positive about your post natal journey.
Course Teacher…
Bridget is a personal trainer and Pilates instructor specialising in helping women recover after pregnancy and birth. She loves to help women feel like they really understand their bodies so they can move past the fear of ‘not doing things right’ and feel confident that they are getting the most out of other activities they choose to do.
Bridget had been interested in postnatal recovery since adding pilates to her PT repertoire a few years ago but has focused even more on that area since giving birth herself at the beginning of 2020.
